Welcome to The Garden Club of Cleveland website.
We invite you to browse and to learn more about our over 100 year history in the City of Cleveland. The Garden Club of Cleveland was founded in 1912 by nine ladies and three gentlemen of great vision and vigor. A charter was signed undertaking “To cultivate the spirit of gardening in its fullest sense together with an appreciation of civic beauty and betterment in and about Cleveland.”
One year later, in 1913, we were elected to the newly formed Garden Club of America. Although our numbers have increased greatly over the years, and we no longer have any gentlemen in our club, we remain a congenial group that enjoys the same vision our founders expressed in the charter. We have supported with our time, talent, and treasure many projects that deal with conservation, horticulture, civic projects, flower shows, education and beautification of the world around us.
Mission Statement:
The Garden Club of Cleveland is dedicated to charitable and educational purposes including stimulating the knowledge and love of gardening, sharing the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence and publications, and restoring, improving and protecting the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvements.
We hope you will enjoy learning about our history and club activities.
